It's well known among mothers and care providers that Mommy Brain is real. The hormonal shift from pregnancy and then breastfeeding affect memory, which can make you feel pretty dumb sometimes. I think the best way to combat this is going for a run. The clarity you get while running combats the Mommy Brain and you'll at least find yourself at square one.
